about

Most artists are driven by an innate, almost compulsive desire to create. They get a huge amount of satisfaction from making things.

So, presenting their piece of work to the public through a medium is often not even considered, as the ‘work’ is done. However, there are two points to consider: people like to socialize, and, being able to make a living through the things we like doing is highly desirable.

Do you as an artist really have to adapt to marketability? In line with the principle “Form follows function” in a design environment, is there “Art follows money” in the arts?
At a time when rotting bananas and self-destructing pictures are fetching the highest prices on the art market, the question arises to what extent art is still an end in itself or whether it is actually defined by clever marketing.

artme.info is placed somewhere in between those opposite ends of the spectrum.

artme.info is not a sales platform for pieces of art as the sales and proceeds remain the sole responsibility of the artists and the galleries.

artme.info is a digital platform in which artists and galleries can present themselves.
Exhibitions can also be displayed entirely online or as a virtual add-on for real exhibitions.

Art should be seen from the perspective of the artist on the one hand, but also from the perspective of the viewer on the other.
Every message needs a recipient - and these recipients are those people interested in art, the viewers, all those who visit openings and museums and read up on art in newspapers, the media and online.

so artme.info is also an art communications platform in which art lovers can get an overview of artists, galleries and exhibitions and get in touch with them.

artme.info wants to support artists and therefore gives artists the opportunity to present themselves and their works free of charge(contact).

Richard Brendel has been dealing with these matters for more than 30 years, both directly (design / photography) and indirectly as an art enthusiast.
